ʻSho-Chiku-Baiʼ

ʻSho-Chiku-Baiʼ

Originally based on the ʻThree Friends of Winterʼ art motif, Sho-Chiku-Bai is comprised of the three elements which make up its name, “Pine,” “Bamboo,” and “Plum” ‒ each traditionally associated with auspiciousness because of their ability to flourish effortlessly even in the harsh cold of winter.
This beautiful and deeply meaningful seasonal arrangement is often displayed to express congratulations for happy occasions such as wedding receptions. It is also traditionally displayed as decoration during the New Year season, including ʻkadomatsuʼ gate decorations that are usually displayed at the entrances to homes and other buildings.
